Boston via Salem.......

We headed now to Massachusetts and Boston, but thought a trip to Salem would be interesting.
Salem is where the Witch Trials took place in 1692, where 19 men and women were hanged
having been convicted for witchcraft. The whole town was full of shops selling all things to do with the craft and even potion shops. Here is one of the nicer shops selling what they call

"Primitive Art".

Imagine a dark and rainy day in a spooky town. We felt quite uneasy here and decided to head on down to Boston......

A little luxury was in order so we checked into a very plush hotel The Westin, at the seaport, They boys were impressed with our room on the 13th floor.

The Lobby

A must while here is a trip to Quincy Market, look it is raining again .

This building is full of take away food shops selling foods from all around the world. It was really good and very good value, DS2 said that this was delicious.......

DH and I enjoyed a New England Fish Chowder soup and sourdough bread, yummy......

Found a shop just next to the market selling nothing but Crocs, I didn't realise that they came in as many styles, mind blowing. DH knows how much I like them so he bought me these sandals, only stipulation , he choose the colour. Not bad for a bloke!! A trip on the Codzilla, a massive speedboat giving the passengers a real exciting ride in the Boston Bay. This is boys before the trip, they got totally drenched on the ride.

Last evening in Boston

A lovely meal in a fish restaurant at the seaport, it was called "No Name Restaurant".

Fom Vermont to Maine...

Onwards to the coast and the delightful state of Maine. The weather had changed and it was rainy and cold. We managed to find a very nice Guest House in York Village run by a 99 year old lady, she was quite remarkable for her age, and employed a young girl to help her on changeover days.

It was a bit like stepping back in time, not at all pretentious just a good old fashioned beach town.
It has fun fair, and we enjoyed a ride one go karts...

Maine the Lobster capital of the USA, almost everywhere you go there are lobsters for sale and Lobster Sub Rolls, we just had to try one.....

Mandatory bib and full instructions how to eat it on the place mat. DH made a good job of eating it

Snapshots from Vermont........

This is Woodstock, a chocolate box quaint town. The houses are all made of wood and painted in
in the distinctive pastel colours. We went for a coffee and

An american apple pie, with ice cream.

Start of our Holiday in the US.......

Up at the crack of dawn and our first trip to T5 Heathrow , DH visits here most weeks so he gave us a bit of a tour aroud this

architecturally stunning building.
DS3 enjoying the flight.

We woke up next morning, this was the view from our hotel window. It was hot,hot,hot....

First stop picturesque Vermont, we spent the day travelling to the mountain resort of Killington, famous for it's skiing. We checked into The Killington Grand Hotel, and our condo was the High Ridge comlpex.

This is a photo of our living area, very well equipped and cosy. The main hotel a short drive away had a great pool and hot tub. Boys bonding.

The reason for travelling to this resort in particular was for the Mountain Biking, in the summer months the mountain transforms into a mecca for bikers. The boys and DH enjoyed a day on the mountain, in heaven I think....

I do not partake in these activities so I took the hotel courtesy bus to the town of Rutland where I had an indulgent time shopping at http://www.michaels.com/ and http://www.joann.com/ look what I bought. More bags to knit.

I think an extra suitcase on the way back home......

Needless to say today I was in heaven too.....

Today is my birthday the one before the half century.
