I have been out shopping.........

I saw these doorstops in our local Department Store, aren't they cute. Ideally I would have liked to make my own but they were quite inexpensive and for the effort and cost it is easier just to buy them. I am going to use them to keep our new doors open leading to the conservatory. I am liking the crochet flowers......
Over the last couple of days my monthly and bi-monthly magazines have arrived, I am too busy atm to read them, still getting things ready for our celebration.

Getting ready for Celebrations.......

Later on this week we have a celebration in the Primrose Patch, I bought these flowers in preparation. I couldn't resist the gorgeousness of them . I just love the colour combinations. More of our celebrations later in the week.

Remember the Pussywillow I bought at Christmas, here it is still flowering, amazing.

Shadows and Stars......

At last some sunshine again, it has been a fairly miserable week here in the UK. After the lovely weather a fortnight ago we were lulled into false pretenses that spring had arrived. Then this week we have had rain, strong winds, frosts and snow on the nearby hills. Today is glorious, and as you can see the sun is shining in my dining room. I just love this glitter ball and the sparkly spots it reflects............

and as you can see it bathes the whole room in stars.......

Snapshots from today, flowers inside and out, the garden and seedlings.

Trying to Fathom the Mystery..........

In my last post I said I was going to look at the Hens diet, well today I went and purchased some ground oyster shells, they provide calcium to keep their eggshells strong.

But later this afternoon, I found these nessled behind the wheelbarrow in our oil tank enclosure. The mystery is solved....... but it looks like two hens have been laying here. I am going to have to keep a eye on them from now on. Little devils.....

The culprits

Charlies Angels........

Once upon a time there were 3 little happy laying hens, then one day one of them stopped laying......... why I don't know. The one in question is Jill the bossy one, (middle photo) the one that lays the blue egg. It has been nearly 2 weeks since her last egg. She seems happy, not showing any signs of being distressed. Her comb is really red, and she is not moulting. I will now have to look at her diet . She is also just into her 3rd year of laying, perhaps she is finished laying altogether.........

Busy, Busy,Busy.......

My day off work has be so, so busy. It started with a trip to the gym, somewhere I haven't been to for ages and feeling so guilty about. I should definitely go more often as it is true what they say it releases endorphins which makes you feel great. Note to self - make more effort to go to the GYM!!! Then it was off to a meeting/get together with the textile forum I belong to. We meet bi-monthly and spend the day sewing/chatting and learning from each other. I took along my "Granny Squares" and managed to make a couple more. I left early as I had to get back home to make some cupcakes. Here they are just out of the oven

The reason for said Cupcakes......... to take to work tomorrow as it is my last day in my current job. I am moving to do another role, but staying at the same Hospital. These are just a little goodbye to all the staff on the ward , I do hope they like them.

Work in Progress........

My granny squares are coming on. I have made about 10 so far, I still don't know what I am going to do with them yet, I will just carry on and see where the flow takes me. I am finding the whole process quite enjoyable, it is so easy to pick up and put down and also quite portable. I was even hooking in the car the other day(hubby driving of course).

Man v Woman.........

It just occurred to me the other day we all have our roles in life to play, are we all stereotyped from birth. It certainly looked like this recently, during a cooking session.
We are very lucky here in the Primrose Patch, we work very well as a team and household chores are evenly distributed. As with most things in life some people are better at some things than others. I think that is why we get on so well.

A Day in the Garden......

The weather today had been lovely, just the sort of day when you want to be outdoors. DH and I decided to have a day tidying the garden. While DH got on with the heavy work, I tidied the borders and mowed the lawn.
The pond needed some serious attention. We trimmed back lots of overgrowth being very careful not to disturb the frogs and their spawn. It looks sooooo much better.

Next job was to clean and tidy the greenhouse and we potted up some herbs and flowers. We have decided to only grow a few flowers this year, but will of course be growing plenty of veg in the allotment. That should keep us busy.

Light Reading......

The latest magazines are out, some light reading over the weekend......
I have promised myself I will get a garden shed at some point, it will be a sort of work room come hideaway. The idea would be to have it well insulated, with lighting & sockets to plug in my sewing machine and a heater in the winter. In this months CL there is a great article on outside sheds. They look so magical and fairytale. I definitely want one.

Snap shots from this months Country Living Interiors
My sort of colours quite plain and muted.....

I seem to be hooked on Crochet......

Since discovering the lovely Lucy at Attic 24, I have been fascinated by her lovely crochet "Granny Blankets". So much so I am intending on making a one, I have been sorting out my yarn stash with the intention of trying to use it up. I have also discovered this magazine and like the look of this hexagonal bag for the summer... hummmmmm where are my crochet hooks................

Over the Border..........

The weekend has gone by so quickly, it has been lovely having DS2 home. Alas he goes back to University tomorrow. Today we had a trip to St Abbs and a walk along the headland, also a visit to the http://www.woolfish.co.uk/ , a very lovely yarn shop.

A Perfect Day for Drying........

Today has been a glorious blustery day, perfect for drying clothes outside. There is something special about the smell of laundry, freshly dried. It makes me want to wrap myself around the clothes and drink in the smells, it is almost like a tonic. For some reason it reminds me of my childhood. I suppose drying clothes outside was the norm back then, none of these fancy tumble dryers. I must confess to owning one, and they do have their use, but I try to limit myself using it. It is about this time of year that it will go into hibernation and not be used again until the late autumn. Saving the environment and electricity costs.

An exciting weekend is planned DH2 is on his way home for a couple of days. So off to catch up with more chores and some baking.

Productivity.......

The frogs in our pond have been producing again, another sign that spring is on the way.

I am wondering /hoping that the amount of spawn this year is a sign that we are going to have a hot summer. Wishful thinking me thinks!!!

Here come the Girls........

It is that time of year again, when everything comes alive. The girls are all back laying regularly. I collected these three today. Eggs for breakfast, lunch and tea...
