As Saturday morning dawned DH and I left the house at 6.30am for a trip to York christmas shopping. The journey usually takes a couple of hours and with it being Christmas we thought the park and ride might be busy, so we decided to leave that little bit earlier, "the early bird catching the worm" and all that.... the dawn broke en route
The roads were quiet, and we arrived well ahead of schedule, the streets were deserted and some of the shops were just opening their doors.

The streets did not stay quiet for long..........................as you can imagine.
This lovely little gift shop was full of felted Robbins first thing in the morning, I went back at the end of the day to buy one and they had sold out!!!!!!!!
Some of my favorite shops are in York, Kath Kidtson, The White Stuff, Little Bettys below with lovely cakes and treats, and the White Company.
A brand new Jo Malone store had just opened the day before, I treat myself to a bottle of perfume and the lady who served me gave me a free sample too. Wow, I was in heaven, it couldn't get much better. Late afternoon we needed to rest our weary legs ,a welcome cup of tea and cakes in the church, with a great Gospel choir singing carols. Dragging ourselves into the crowded streets we did a little more browsing and a took a look at the ice sculptures, they were fab.
An early tea and home by 9pm, I was happy but exhausted.

That sounds like a wonderful day out!
Glad you had a nice day although our paths did not cross and I'm pleased you saw the sculptures. I was waiting for a street to clear for a an early morning sunrise photograph before opening time and there were a group of people who didn't want to move... it later turned out to be the ice sculptor and his associates looking for locations for his work.
Great little shopping tour. I would have loved those shops as well. Too bad you missed out on those felted robins. Next year? xox Corrine
